What Next?

Thank you to everyone who took part in Encounters Shop Princetown during winter 2025/26. We are now into the next phase of the project and, whether you took part in the Shop or not, we hope you will get involved in this next phase. Everyone is welcome!

The main focus of the next phase is to:

  • Present back, refine and hone an emerging story, or vision, for the future of Princetown, created from everyone’s contributions at Encounters Shop Princetown.
  • Facilitate a process for the local and wider community to consider what role they might want to play in taking that future story forward.

This involves a range of activities:

  • A series of co-design sessions with a small group of local people focusing on what could enable the local and wider community to carry the vision forward.
  • A series of creative ‘cook-up’ sessions focusing on how some of the themes from the Encounters Shop Princetown and the emerging Princetown vision could be taken forward by the local and wider community, and what might enable that.
  • Princetown Vision: What if? What next? public event at Princetown Community Centre 22nd – 24th May. This is a drop in event for everyone, focused on reflecting back key themes from the Encounters Shop, on sense-checking and honing the emerging vision, and on considering next steps.
  • ‘Cups of tea’ – one-to-one meetings to discuss and share the project with local individuals.
  • Visits to local community groups to share more about the project and receive input.

We have two key dates for your diary!

Princetown Vision: What if? What next? Weekend long event from Friday 22nd to Sunday 24th May, 11am – 4pm at Princetown Community Centre. Drop in any time for an opportunity to see the key themes from Encounters Shop Princetown, sense-check and hone the emerging vision, and consider steps the community could take towards it.

See the flyer for more details and please invite others and help spread the word. Everyone of all ages are welcome – residents, organisations, businesses, visitors and anyone who cares about the future of Princetown. Free refreshments available. We hope to see you there!

Princetown Vision-in-Action. Come Join a Cook Up! Two creative action oriented workshops to take forward some of the themes from the Encounters Shop Princetown and the emerging Princetown vision.

have other suggestions or ways you might like to be involved, you can contact the Princetown Place Strategy Steering Group princetownvision@gmail.com.

We hope, in time, that all kinds of people across the community will be involved. Right now, the initiative is being developed by the Princetown Place Strategy Steering Group – a group made up of representatives from the Parish Council, the local community, the local business community, local community organisations, the Duchy, the National Park Authority and West Devon Council.

This next phase of the project is designed and hosted by some of the same artists as Encounters Shop Princetown, as well as new artists from Devon based organisation Filament. This next phase is under the umbrella of Filament.
